Your Job As A Sponsor

As we approach another GMTD weekend, here is a little reminder of what you are responsible to do if you are sponsoring a candidate.  First of all, please prayerfully consider each person you decide to sponsor.  This person should be a professing believer, and one who desires to grow spiritually and become a leader in the Christian community.

When the Pre-weekend couple calls you to tell you your candidate has been called for the upcoming weekend, please contact your candidate and get back to the pre-weekend couple within the prescribed time.  They have many phone calls to make, and if they don’t hear from you within a few days, they are forced to move on to the next candidate.

Once your candidate has been confirmed, it is your responsibility to get letters from those close to your candidate and get them to the camp by Saturday night of the weekend.   You should take your candidate to send-off (on time).  You should check on the candidate’s family during the weekend, and provide transportation back home after closing for your candidate.  After the weekend, you should check on your candidate, and take him/her to the next Secuela.

Most importantly, you should pray for your candidate and his/her family before, during, and after the weekend.  If you make sure you attend to all of your responsibilities as a sponsor,  it will make the weekend a much more pleasant experience for everyone involved.
